Additional Details

Fourth edition of the 1756 abridgment. With the bookplates dated 3 May 1771 of Prince George, Prince of Wales, and Prince Frederick, the eldest sons of King George III and Queen Charlotte. "The Princes' rather curious joint bookplate is of especial interest in two respects. In the first place is it precisely dated, and in the second the princes were so young, being then eight and seven years old respectively. This ex-libris was evidently created to dignify their schoolbooks"--Lee, British Royal Bookplates 78.
