Finland was scheduled to be the host of the 1940 Olympic Games. The games were canceled due to the outbreak of World War II, but were brought back to the Nordic country in 1952. Several posters were designed in anticipation of the 1940 games. For this image, The Finnish Air Traffic Company [Aero] uses the Olympic Rings in conjunction with a Junkers Ju-52/3mce flying above one of Finland's picturesque lighthouses. "In the 1930s the carrier [Aero] started extensive cooperation with the newly founded advertising agency SEK (the S stands for Suhonen)" (Finland p. 102). Finland p. 125.
