Signed, titled and inscribed with the artist's addresses "704 Sixth Ave." and "33 Union Square West, NYC 10003" in ink on a fragment of the original backing paper, mounted on the frame back.
Provenance: obtained directly from the artist, private collection.
Joseph Delaney continued to paint large figure compositions late in his career - often from memory. Delaney taught painting at the Vermont Academy, a private coed prep school, with a Ford Foundation grant in 1968.
