JOSEPH MULLER-BROCKMANN (1914-1996) BEA / FLY VISCOUNT.
501/2x351/2 inches. Bollmann, Zurich.
Condition A-: minor creases in margins. Paper.
Muller-Brockmann was the undisputed leader of the post-war Zurich graphic school. He was a designer, photographer and typographer as well as a theoretician and a teacher. His abstract series for Musica Viva and his dramatic photomontages for the Swiss Automobile Club are lauded as icons of the rigorous Swiss approach to graphic design. This previously undocumented poster is a rare example of the artist not using photography. It is a clean, highly stylized image of a plane, with masterfully depicted propellers, well set within clear sans-serif typography.
