JOSEPH PENNELL
The Doge's Palace, Venice.

Etching on imitation Japan paper, 1883. 200x255 mm; 8x10 inches, full margins. Signed in pencil, lower center. A superb impression of this extremely scarce, early etching.

We have found only one other impression at auction in the past 20 years.

Pennell first traveled to Venice in June 1883, when he made this etching, perhaps meeting Duveneck who was in the city at the time. Wuerth 69.
