Born in Brooklyn, Pensato (1941–2019) studied at the New York Studio School. She is known for her large-scale paintings that draw from popular culture, mostly cartoons. She depicted characters from the Simpsons, Disney classic cartoons, and others with bold gestural strokes drawing on both Pop Art and Abstract Expressionism. Her work is included in numerous permanent collections, including the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York and The Museum of Modern Art, New York.
