The eight kilometer long, curvy race circuit through the mountains of Auvergne was opened in July 1958. The following year this poster was issued to promote two different races. The Formula 2 race was won by Sterling Moss, who declared the course to be "the most beautiful circuit in the world." The poster is a clean, modernist montage with a photograph of a racing car and generously drawn curves evoking the course itself. The green in the image suggests the natural beauty of the surroundings and the red, white and blue symbolize the French flag. Although anonymous, the work can be favorably compared to designs by Max Huber.
