JULES-ALEXANDRE GRÜN (1868-1938) LOÏE FULLER. 1901.
62 1/4x42 1/4 inches, 158x108 cm. Chaix, Paris.
Condition B / B+: repaired tears, creases and abrasions in margins and image; restored losses in margins; restoration along vertical and horizontal folds.
In 1892 Loïe Fuller made her triumphant Parisian debut at the Folies Bergère, dancing her inimitable snake dance, and inspiring many of Paris' best artists to promote her talent. Grün 's was likely the most realistic, showing the dancer's face and the natural contours of her body. This poster was designed after 1901 when Grün moved his studios to the boulevard Pereire. It is certainly one of the rarest of the Loïe Fuller posters, as there is no in Constantin Lista's 1994 book on the dancer. Gold 167.
