JULES-ALEXANDRE GRUN LE GRAND GUIGNOL.
49x351/2 inches. Bourgerie, Paris.
Condition B: minor paper loss in margins; repaired tears in margins and image.
Paris' premiere horror theatre, the Grand Guignol terrified patrons from 1897-1962. Fake blood, eyeballs from animal carcasses delivered daily by local butchers, violence, sex and mayhem entertained everyone from the crowned heads of Europe to Montmartre's local population. The theatre was Paris' biggest tourist attraction until the Eiffel Tower was constructed! Grun didn't abandon his usual beautiful women for this poster, her merely gave her a club with which she is merily beating people lined up on the stage! In orange, black and white. DFP II 447.
