JULES-ALEXANDRE GRUN LE GRAND GUIGNOL.
49x35 1/2 inches. Bourgerie, Paris.
Condition A-: minor repaired tears in margins; vertical and horizontal folds.
Paris' premiere horror theatre, the Grand Guignol terrified patrons from 1897-1962. Fake blood, eyeballs from animal carcasses delivered daily by local butchers, violence, sex and mayhem entertained everyone from the crowned heads of Europe to Montmartre's local population. The theatre was Paris' biggest tourist attraction until the Eiffel Tower was constructed! Grun didn't abandon his usual beautiful woman for this poster, her merely gave her a club with which she is merrily beating people lined up on the stage! In orange, black and white. This is the version without text. DFP II 447.
