JULES-ALEXANDRE GRÜN (1868-1934) SCALA / REVUE À POIVRE. 1903.
49x34 1/2 inches, 124 1/2x87 1/2 cm. Charles Verneau, Paris.
Condition B+: time-staining and minor creases in margins and along vertical and horizontal folds.
This classic Grun poster presents "a cheerful and exposed young lady" (Grün p. 63) in the suggestive, softly erotic style that was the artist's trademark. The Scala was one of Paris's major music halls, and Grün designed most of the posters for the establishment between 1901 and 1905. This is the larger format. Grun p. 63, DFP-II 436, Meisterplakate 107, Cafe Concert 38.
