JUPP WIERTZ (1881-1939) A PLEASANT TRIP TO GERMANY. Circa 1935.
39 3/4x25 inches, 101x63 1/2 cm. Reichsbahnzentrale fur den Deutschen Reiseverkehr, Berlin.
Condition A-: wrinkles and creases at edges. Paper.
An eye-catching Art Deco image in which the Hindenburg, a Lufthansa Foker airplane and one of the ships in the Hapag Lines (the heart and soul of German transportation technology), are proudly arrayed before the public. Wiertz has not only depicted the impressive vehicles themselves, but also a visual travelogue taking the traveler from the soaring skyscrapers of Manhattan, past the mountains and palm trees of South America to the silhouetted sights of Germany. It is uncertain whether this poster was printed in different languages. Airline Artistry p. 31.
