THE SCARCE FIRST STATE JUSEPE DE RIBERA
The Drunken Silenus.

Etching, 1628. 268x346 mm; 105/8x135/8 inches. First state (of 3), before the dedication lower center and the publisher Rossi's address. Ex-collection Bowinkel, Capri, with 2 ink stamps verso on a previous mount (not in Lugt). Trimmed on the plate mark, flattened vertical crease with restoration along scattered breaks, repaired 13/4-inch horizontal tear center left edge. A very good impression of this extremely scarce print. Bartsch 13; Brown 14.
