Second edition of the first volume, first edition of the second & third, three folio volumes bound as two, engraved title and portrait in first volume; bound in full uniform antique-style tan calf by Sangorski & Sutcliffe and housed in custom drop-back boxes; purchased by the current owner from Scribner's in 1966; early signature of Edw. Maunsell slight washed away on portrait leaf; 11 1/8 x 6 3/4 in.
