The Deutsche Künstlerbund (German Association of Artists) was founded in the early years of the 20th century. They held annual exhibitions of their work in different cities around Germany and occasionally abroad. The group was disbanded in 1936 by the Nazi Party. Schmidt-Rottluff, a founding member of Die Brücke, designed two posters for the yearly shows, in 1927 and 1930. Here, he uses his 1923 woodblock print, Woman With Her Head in Her Right Hand, to promote the exhibition. Rathenau 7.
