KARL VON APPEN (1900-1981) CORIOLAN / SHAKESPEARE BRECHT. 1964. 44 3/4x32 inches, 113 3/4x81 1/4 cm. Condition A-: minor creases and abrasions in margins and image; minor restoration along horizontal fold. Imprisoned as a Communist during World War II, von Appen became Art Director at the Dresden Theatre right after the war. In 1954, Bertolt Brecht chose him to work at the Berliner Ensemble, where von Appen stayed until his retirement.
