KASPAR ERNST GRAF (1909-1988) GRAND PRIX SUISSE / AUTOMOBILE. 1934.
50x35 1/4 inches, 127x89 1/2 cm. Société Polygraphique Laupen, Bern.
Condition A-: minor repaired tears at edges; creases and minor restoration at edges and along vertical and horizontal folds. Paper. Framed.
This dynamic opus of form, color and typography publicizes the 1st Swiss Grand Prix for automobiles (to differentiate it from motorcycle racing, which had been held in Bremgarten since 1931). Relatively-unknown Swiss painter and printmaker Graf depicts the velocity of the racing Maserati and Bugatti with Machine Age mastery that bespeaks a firm understanding of the tenets of both Art Deco design and speed as understood by the Italian Futurists. This is the French version. Rare. 2nd Salon Automobile 72 (var).

From the Aminoff / Faccini Estate.
