In early 1988 Haring (1958-1990) opened a Pop Shop in the Aoyama neighborhood of Tokyo. This Japanese-manufactured guitar was brought to the store by one of Haring's myriad Japanese fans for the artist's signature during the Pop Shop grand opening and received an original drawing as well.
