Tomorrowland first opened in California's Disneyland in 1955, then in Florida and internationally in the following decades. The attraction was Walt Disney's futuristic vision of the world - a sort of permanent World's Fair for innovation and imagination. Disney said, "Tomorrow can be a wonderful age. Our scientists today are opening the doors of the Space Age to achievements that will benefit our children and generations to come. The Tomorrowland attractions have been designed to give you an opportunity to participate in adventures that are a living blueprint of our future." The many Tomorrowland posters designed from the 1950s to the 21st Century emphasize science fiction, fantasy and technology, with bold colors and elements of abstraction. Ken Chapman's 1967 stylized depiction of the Rocket Jets ride gives the illusion that the park-goers are being propelled into outer space, echoing a nearly identical composition for the Astrojet poster in 1956, and later mirrored by the Starjets design in 1983. Disney Parks p. 101.
