Additional Details

"Aug. -- Monday. Brattahlid. Sheep farms. . . . The men had long blond (reddish) beards, and were dressed in tattered clothes. Their feet and hands were enormous. They walked as though stalking, and crouching. One carried a large basket, out of this he took human bones . . . ."
In the chapter "Banker to the Seal-Hunters" of his book Salamina, which records Kent's trip to Greenland between 1931 and 1932, Kent writes that he made several small loans to the locals. The names of loan recipients in the book match those in the list found at the end of the journal in this lot.
