Rhythm Nation School Blue II is an early two-dimensional work by this contemporary artist. Cole has become widely known for his abstract rendering of ties in brighly colored, three-dimensional abstract assemblage. Born in Pine Bluff, AR in 1960, Cole graduated from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, and received an MA in Art Education and Painting from the University of Illinois and an MFA from the University of Northern Illinois. His works are found in many institutional collections, such as the Yale University Art Gallery, New Haven, CT, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, Philadelphia, PA, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia, Atlanta, GA, The Dayton Institute of Art, Dayton, OH, The David C. Driskell Center, University of Maryland, College Park MD, and the Clark Atlanta University Art Museum, Atlanta, GA.
