KOCH, PETER. Ur-Text Volume III. Text composed in Monotype Reproducing Bold type and printed on Mohawk Superfine paper. Hand-bound volume (16 x 10 1/4 inches; 405 x 260 mm) in various metals by Daniel Kelm. Acid-etched zinc lined covers with doublures of oxidized brass; sewn signatures with braided dacron thread, external brass spine rod covered by aluminum tube segments; preserved in original black and red Japanese cloth-covered chemise with magnetic fore-edge flap. Number 12 of 25 copies, signed and numbered by Koch, and bearing a later date "01/01/2001." "A hyper-modernist edition of the concrete poem 'wordswords' is 'Koch's final disarticulation' and ironicallly symbolizes the devaluation and loss of faith in the Word. Ur-Text is an extreme example of a metaphor and an icon of the 'book as object' (from the publisher). Berkeley: Peter Koch, 1994 [2001]
