Volume 1 contains Koch's Zur Untersuchung von pathogenen Organismen on pages 1-48, describing his methods for obtaining pure cultures of microorganisms (Garrison-Morton 2495.1 and Grolier/Horblit 60); Zur Aetiologie des Milzbrandes on pages 49-79, a continuation of his work on anthrax, criticizing Pasteur (cf. Garrison-Morton 5167 and DSB VII, 424); Ueber Desinfection on pages 234-282 (Garrison-Morton 5636.1); and papers on pages 301-21 and 322-40 co-written with Gustav Wolffhügel, Georg Gaffky, and Friedrich Löffler on disinfection with hot air and steam (DSB VII, 431). Volume 2 contains Koch's Die Aetiologie der Tuberkulose on pages 1-88, an expanded version of the account published 2 years earlier of his discovery of the tuberculosis bacillus (Garrison-Morton 2331 note); and on pages 147-81, a paper co-written with Gaffky and Löffler on artificial attenuation of the anthrax bacillus. Volume 2 also contains papers by Gaffky on typhoid bacillus on pages 372-420 (Garrison-Morton 5032), and Löffler on diphtheria bacillus on pages 421-99 (Garrison-Morton 5056).
