Kolomon Moser was a key figure in the Austrian Secession. A founding member of the movement, he was also a professor at Vienna's School of Decorative Art. Together with Josef Hofmann he co-founded the Weiner Werkstatte and was a versatile and prolific artist in his own right. Book design, graphic design, interior design, jewelry, furniture, silverware, fashion and ceramics were just some of the fields in which he worked. Much of his graphic work was done on behalf of the Secession and his commercial posters are quite rare. One of several variations, this poster was first printed in 1899 in a smaller size, without the bottom line of text nor the image of the bottle itself. Denscher p. 138 (var).
