KORNGOLD, ERICH WOLFGANG. Two postcards: Photograph Inscribed with an Autograph Musical Quotation Signed and verso with Autograph Note Signed * Autograph Letter Signed, to Czech soprano Maria Jeritza. The photograph, 1/2-length seated portrait by Madame d'Ora, showing him in profile with head turned toward camera. Inscribed in the blank lower margin is an AMQS, four bars from his Die tote Stadt, notated on a hand-drawn stave, with holograph title and lyrics, in German. On the verso is an ANS, "EWS," to Miss Katz, in German, sending thanks and warm greetings. 4 1/4x3 1/4 inches (image), 5 1/2x3 1/2 inches overall; lacking postal markings. The letter, in German, sending New Year's greetings and adding that he has "heard nothing regarding 'Violanta' (from the 'Metropolitan')--not even a word!" On the verso is written a postscript, at lower edge below a printed view of a church in a snowy countryside: "I finally got the song back from the transcribers yesterday and will send it to you right away!" 1 page, 12mo; cancelled 24-groschen stamp at upper left.
