Ten parts in one quarto volume, each 48 pages long; illustrated with text diagrams, 9 engravings (of which 3 are folding), and 3 smaller engravings cut out and tipped onto fore-edge margins; bound in full contemporary parchment over stiff boards; contents browned; the Macclesfield copy, with blind embossed crest to title and South Library bookplate pasted inside front board; sold as lot 1148 in the 2005 auction; rare at auction; 8 1/2 x 6 1/2 in.

Kirch was a student of Weigel and Hevelius and served as Berlin's first Royal Astronomer, operating from the Berlin Observatory. Based on his astronomical observations, made with the aid of telescopes he built himself; he published calendars such as the present series of ephemerides.
