THANKING FOR BENJAMIN FRANKLIN'S LETTERS LAFAYETTE, GILBERT DU MOTIER; MARQUIS DE. Two Autograph Letters Signed, "Lafayette." The first, to publisher Truettel & Würtz, in French, asking them to convey thanks to Alexandre de Lameth for sending a copy of Franklin's letters [Correspondance choisie de Benjamin Franklin, Paris, Treuttel et Würtz, 1817]. 1/2 page, 4to, with integral address leaf; small printed portrait mounted at its bottom edge to recto center below text, folds. The second, in English, to an unnamed recipient (lacking salutation), expressing disappointment at having missed the opportunity to bid him or her farewell, and hoping to receive correspondence. 1 1/4 page, square 8vo, written on the recto and verso of a single sheet; few short closed separations at folds.
