Additional Details

"I much regret not to have had the gratification to meet you yesterday and would have called at the Hotel Meurice had I not been kept to this hour at the musing of the doctors and obliged to attend a mourning duty . . . You find me, my dear Sir, in the mutual anxiety for our poor Frederic. The night, which was anticipated as a very important and alarming crisis[?] has not been so bad as we might have feared . . . two hours of it have been very sad . . . He is very ill indeed, but not beyond the hope of recovery."
