Marton was a Hungarian artist who spent some time in Paris in the late-1920s and 1930s working for DAM, the advertising agency owned by the Damour brothers. This image is one in a series of posters published in the mid-1930s by Les Grands Réseaux de Chemins de Fer Francais, promoting travel to Paris. Other posters in the series were designed by A.M. Cassandre, Julien Lacaze, Robert Falcucci and Roger de Valerio. Voyage p. 147, Train p. 286.
