A print made in preparation for Lange's first major exhibition, a retrospective mounted at the Museum of Modern Art , which opened in January of 1966--immediately after her death. John Szarkowski writes that Lange considered this to be a monumental exhibit and a chance to "summarize the meaning of her life as a photographer."
