LARRY CLARK (1943- )

Jonathan Velasquez.
A compilation of 33 C-prints, the images measuring 165x114 mm, 6½x4½ inches, and the reverse, the sheets slightly larger; overall measuring 1003x800 mm, 39½x31½ inches; framed. Circa 2000.

With a signed note from Clark dated 2013 documenting provenance to the present owner.

Velazquez, a muse for Clark (inspiring the artist to make his film Wassup Rockers), was the subject of the photographer's 2007 show "Los Angeles 2003-2006."

Writing about the exhibition in ArtForum (December 2007), David Velasco explains, 'Velasquez, a charismatic Guatemalan skater from South Central Los Angeles, is the latest addition to Clark's growing cast of young 'discoveries.' For reasons difficult to parse, Velasquez is treated with uncharacteristic reverence."
