In the 1920s, Nadel achieved his greatest output of poetry, librettos, and song and poetry cycles within the same artistic circles as Lasker-Schüler, the acclaimed female Expressionist poet, playwright, and artist. Their activities eventually led to persecution by the Nazis; Lasker-Schüler fled to Palestine and then Jerusalem in the late 1930s and Nadel was deported to Auschwitz, where he died at in 1943.
