number 233 of 250 copies of the first limited edition, signed by lasker-schüler. warmly inscribed by her as her alter-ego "the prince of thebes" to arno nadel on 17 October 1928 from Berlin. a wonderful association copy linking two major figures of Jewish German Expressionist art and culture. In the 1920s, Nadel achieved his greatest output of poetry, librettos, and song and poetry cycles within the same artistic circles as Lasker-Schüler, the acclaimed female Expressionist poet, playwright, and artist. Their activities eventually led to persecution by the Nazis; Lasker-Schüler fled to Palestine and then Jerusalem in the late 1930s and Nadel was deported to Auschwitz, where he died at in 1943. Raabe 182, 15.
