Les Etablisments Bokanowski was a chain of department stores that was known for their aggressive and inventive advertising (some of which has survived reproduced in the advertising magazine Vendre). Like many other department stores, Bokanowski's would devote January to a "white sale," a promotion of bed sheets and linens. Chassaing was in good company when asked to design one of the "la blanc" posters. Cassandre created one advertising A la Maison Doree and Brodovitch designed one for Madelois. Chassaing's is a classic Art Deco image that uses white, black and blue with a roll of fabric covering the outline of a map of France. The lettering, the colors, the use of airbrush and the composition using the diagonal all show Cassandre's influence on the artist.
