Solarized silver print, the image measuring 9x6 3/4 inches (22.9x15.9 cm.), the mount 12 7/8x10 1/8 inches (32.8x25.8 cm.), with Miller's signature, in pencil, on mount recto, and her 12, Rue Victor, Considerant Paris XIV hand stamp and the notation 49, in pencil, on mount verso. Gifted by Miller to Nathan; by descent to his wife, actress Julie Haydon (1910-1994); by descent to a friend.

Nathan (1882-1958) was a New York-based bon vivant, theatre critic, and editor who worked closely with H.L. Mencken, co-editing "The Smart Set" (1929) and turning it into a prestigious journal. Later on, they co-founded "The American Mercury." The character in the classic film All About Eve was modeled on Nathan, a popular ladies man.
