Gifted by Miller to Nathan; by descent to his wife, actress Julie Haydon (1910-1994); by descent to a friend.

Nathan (1882-1958) was a New York-based bon vivant, theatre critic, and editor who worked closely with H.L. Mencken, co-editing "The Smart Set" (1929) and turning it into a prestigious journal. Later on, they co-founded "The American Mercury." The character in the classic film All About Eve was modeled on Nathan, a popular ladies man.
