Clipped portion of a partly-printed Document Signed, "RELee / CaptEngrs," as Captain of Engineers, certifying receipt of items listed in an inventory, a fragment of which is visible on the verso including one line of text in his hand, "2 large sheets Gasket Paper [at] $1 each, 2.00." With holograph correction of printed text on both recto and verso, striking out "Harbor of St. Louis," and writing after, "Mississippi river above the mouth of the Ohio." Approximately 2 1/2x8 inches; chipping and tears at edges with minor loss to text, remnants of prior mounting at corners verso with some faint bleed-through touching signature. Np, 1838
