"I have two Hundred pounds in gold by me & have had Since the 19th of last Month but indisposition has put it out of my power to ride as far as Traveller's Rest & I fear now it is impracticable to proceed farther than Shepherd's Town & return this Even'g which my situation renders absolutely necessary; Permit me therefore to request the favor of you to meet me at One O'Clock at Shepherd's Town or as soon afterward as may be convenient to you."
