Marfurt can be seen as the alter ego of France's Cassandre and Britain's McKnight Kauffer: he employs the same strong and sharp graphics, the same geometric approach and the same efficient visual concepts. "A masterpiece of Art Deco illustration" (Modernist Posters no. 34), it depicts the style, ease and convenience of the Belgian National Railway's rail and ferry service to Britain. An elegant couple is seen disembarking from a train whose door is the frame of our image. A porter is there to help them with their bags on the short transfer to a waiting ship. English version. Weill p. 218.
