REFUTING CHARGES OF PLAGIARISM LEONCAVALLO, RUGGIERO. Autograph Letter Signed, in French, to Mr. Hengel, an angry letter written in response to Hengel's accusations of plagiarism in La Boheme, refuting the charges, arguing that he wrote the work at Brissago over a ten month period, suggesting other examples of composers arriving at similar themes such as Wagner's Walkure and Schumann's Paradise and the Peri, and closing the letter threatening never to perform in Paris again. With numerous underlinings within the letter for emphasis. 4 pages, folded 8vo sheet, Grand Hotel de Genes Genca stationery. Genes, circa 1897
