LEONETTO CAPPIELLO MONNA DELZA. Circa 1910.
90x311/2 inches. Vercasson, Paris.
Condition B+: restoration and overpainting in margins; restoration along vertical and horizontal folds. Has full facial graphic reconstruction (overpainting in image).
In dating this poster we can look at the printer, Vercasson, which indicates that it was printed before the First World War. Further judging by the haircut of the actress we can determine that it was very shortly before the war. This tall, elongated image is a very rare format for Cappiello. The image is a simple portrait in which Cappiello's artistic skill can be seen in her face, hands and the cut of the Empire-style gown. The format of the poster suggests that it was used as a stock image, to be placed outside theaters on pillars. Rennert / Cappiello 54.
