The sitter for this portrait is Grace "Bobbi" Vernon, the artist's long time muse and second wife. Seyffert (1887-1956) was one of the leading American portraitists of the 20th century, creating over 500 portraits including leading figures like Charles Lindbergh, Andrew Mellon and Henry Clay Frick.
