Second Aldine edition after the first Aldine (and first in Italian) of 1585. Leroy's book, 'a pioneering work on cyclical change in cultural history' (OCFL), was originally published in 1575 in French. In its final years the Aldine press was the first publishing firm to make a regular practice of printing priced stock catalogues on spare pages in its books; one of the more extensive of these appears on the last 3 preliminary pages of this edition, listing nearly 80 titles. Renouard pages 248(3) and 341-45; New UCLA 1016; Pollard & Ehrman, pages 161-62.
