LESLIE RAGAN THE NEW UNION TERMINAL / CLEVELAND. Circa 1930.
39x25 inches. Latham Litho & Ptg., New York.
Condition B: repaired tear through poster; repaired tear through bottom margin affecting text; abrasions and paper loss in image. Mounted on board.
A monumental image of a monumental building, shown bathed in the fiery orange of a dramatic sunset, which cloaks its shadowed side in lavender, and each of its wings in a different color. Rising 52 stories above Cleveland's Public Square, the terminal was the second tallest building in the world in 1930. The massive urban redevelopment that accompanied its conception and construction foreshadowed Rockefeller Center in New York City.
