Influenced partially by Eadweard Muybridge's sequential motion studies, LeWitt's formal, rigorous, and playful photobooks depict deceptively simple themes: cubes photographed from various angles, a sunrise, window and door frames, and a brick wall. Autobiography, LeWitt's most well-known title, consists of more than 1,000 photographs taken of his apartment and results in a progression of objects and possessions that is both archival, elusive, and poetic. This title, with the group offered here, demonstrates LeWitt's cerebral, highly conscious work, and his important part in establishing the Minimalist and Conceptual art movements.
