Around 1930, tennis rackets named after Henri Darsonval were manufactured by the Paris firm of Louvet & Darsonval. When professional tennis player and Sporting Club de Paris instructor Henri Darsonval transitioned from playing to teaching, one of his main students was Frenchman René Lacoste. Not only did Lacoste invent the first ball-throwing machine (to avoid needing Darsonval's coaching any further), and patent the first tubular steel tennis racket, but his longest-standing claim to fame may be his iconic Lacoste tennis shirt. Bearing the crocodile logo as an homage to his nickname, Lacoste polo shirts represented a transition to the modern tennis wardrobe.
