Rodgers (1822-1863) commanded the ironclad monitor USS Catskill during the attacks on Charleston in 1863; in the attack on Fort Wagner on August 17, Rodgers was killed by a shot that destroyed the pilothouse; he was a son of Rear Admiral Christopher Raymond Perry Rodgers.
