Additional Details

George Washington Storer (1789-1864) served for over fifty years in the U.S. Navy; his career included command of the USS Potomac, the USS Constellation, and the USS Brandywine. In 1858, Storer was appointed President of the Board of Examiners and in 1864, though he was too infirm to serve, Storer was commissioned Rear Admiral.
