THANKING FOR "INSPIRING PERFORMANCE OF MY SYMPHONIC POEMS" LISZT, FRANZ. Autograph Letter Signed, "F. Liszt," to an unnamed conductor in Sondershausen, in German, thanking him for an inspiring performance of Liszt's symphonic poems, sending copies of the poems [not present] to be distributed to the orchestra members, and in a postscript, conveying thanks from his travel companions including H[ans] von Bülow and C[arl] Tausig. 4 pages, 8vo, written on a single folded sheet, pale blue paper; nearly complete closed separation at center vertical fold, docketed in ink in unknown hand at upper edge of first page, horizontal folds, minor scattered soiling. "For the true joy which your sympathetic, energetic, intellectually illuminating and inspiring performance of my symphonic poems gave me, I again thank you most obligingly and sincerely and ask you to pass this on to the gentlemen in your excellent orchestra. . . . I . . . offer you the enclosed 4 scores of my symphonic poems, which have already been published, and I won't fail to send the remaining 3 as soon as they come out. . . ."
The postscript: "My travel companions, H. v. Bülow, Cornelius, Schreiber, and C. Tausig send their regards, with many thanks for the friendly reception they had in Sondershausen. . . ."
