Born in Washington, DC, this modernist painter is known for his figurative oil painting. He received a BA at Morehouse College and an MFA from Howard University, where he studied with Löis Mailou Jones, and was on the visiting faculty at Skowhegan. His painting Yolk was included in the landmark The Negro in American Art exhibition at UCLA in 1966, and his work is in the collections of the Atlanta Art Museum, Spelman College and Dartmouth College.
