This block was used to print Jones's illustration on the wrap-around dusk jacket of Horace Mann Bond's book Negro Education in Alabama: A Study in Cotton and Steel. It was first published by the Associated Publishers of Washington, DC in 1939. Bond was an author and educator who served as President of Lincoln University and was the father of political and civil rights activist, Julian Bond.
