Locke's eulogistic "Foreword" was for a title in the Bronze Book series which was never published. Schomburg was writing "Negro History in Outline" for the series when he died, and the piece was never issued. Two additional typed pages accompany the foreword and are probably not by Locke. One is a brief biography of Schomburg; the other lists Schomburg's memberships in various associations.
